For the launch of FRED Skis, we’re doing things differently.
Instead of showing backflips off cliffs or powder-choked descents, we want to showcase something quieter… but just as precise. We're drawing inspiration from shodo, the Japanese art of calligraphy, to express the balance, control, and flow of a perfect ski turn.
We tried our hand at it ourselves — and let’s just say the paper came out on top.
So now, we’re turning to you.

We’re looking for help to find the perfect shodo master: an artist whose brush can capture the essence of our skis in a single, powerful gesture.
This short shodo performance will be filmed in an old Japanese atelier and featured as the homepage video on thefredski.com.
It’s not just an ad, it’s a visual philosophy for how these skis were designed to perform.

Think you’ve mastered the art of shodo?
We’re looking for a calligraphy artist who can capture the spirit of a perfect ski turn — bold, flowing, effortless — in a single brushstroke.
If that sounds like you, we want to see you in action.
What to submit:
- A short video (max. 2 minutes) showcasing your shodo skills.
- Your name, location, and a few words about your style or artistic philosophy.
🗓️ Deadline: June 15th, 2025

Let’s make something beautiful together — brush in hand, skis in mind.
We’re not looking for tricks or trends, just true mastery of movement.
